A Little background on my Quilting
I started quilting in January 1984 at Greenville College. My first quilt was a baby quilt in red & whites of a sail boats. That was it for me I was hooked! Everything I did from that class was always hand pieced since I did not own a sewing machine. That summer I made my first larger quilt as a gift using my mothers sewing machine (never thinking to take a picture of it to document its history).
I finished college and got married in 1987 and started a new job. The only quilting done at this time was by hand piecing, so a ton of UFO (Unfinished Objects) projects.
I found out I was pregnant on March 17, 1989 and the new Grand Parents bought me my first sewing machine to make baby cloths. Yeah right. A few baby cloths were made on that machine, but I started piecing by machine instead. I checked out every book that I could get my hands on from the local Library to figure out how to machine piece. I made a few machine pieced tops but still have to hand quilt them. I enjoyed it too.
I saw a newspaper ad to join a Quilt club in 1992, so I joined. Formed new friendships, learned a ton, took some classes and became much better at piecing, and quilting.
I bought my first quilting machine in 1998 so now I could join the modern age of machine quilting.
I have been a member of that same Quilt Club since 1992 to present and I have joined another quilt club and have been very active in it since 1998 to present. I have taught private lessons, and group lessons on piecing and quilting by hand and by machine.
